Peek-a-Boo Slider Tutorial

I had some interest on a tutorial for the Peek-a-boo Slider card.  Here is my attempt!

Peek-a-Boo Slider Card

This pictorial tutorial will show you how I went from point A to Point B:

You will need to add a “channel” for your sliding element to fit in. I used a retired punch, but this current punch will work perfectly.

For a spinner card you would use 2 pennies, but since we just need this to slide up and down or left and right we need to make an element that will enable the two-direction motion. Make two score lines about a 1/8-inch apart and cut (2) 1-inch circles centering the score lines.

Fold each of the score lines so your circles become tacos (lol sorry, sort of went with the card theme). Now glue the two flat sides to each other to form an H shape.

Insert your H Disc into the slot and add a glue dot so you can adhere your peek-a-boo element.

Make the Pull Tab, it should be long enough so that it is free to pull with ease. Attach tab to the reverse side of your sliding element with a glue dot. Then add fun foam on either side of the pull tab, being sure to keep the tab clear so it can slide.

Strategically add dimentionals to the front of panel so you can add the element your peek-a-boo surprise will hide behind. Make sure you do NOT block the entry/exit points or your slider will jam!!!

Tada! The project is complete! I hope you have found this tutorial helpful!

Last Chance Hey Chick

Seven days left until the end of Sale-a-bration and I thought I would showcase one last card using Hey Chick!  Edited to add U Fold Tutorial.

I saw an interesting card fold in a You-Tube video, it was an SVG cut file by Lori Whitlock.  I DO have a Cricut Explore but realize that not everyone does, so I decided to see if I could recreate this Center Box Card using our paper trimmer.  These are the dimensions and score line measurements.

  • Cardstock:  4.25 X 7.5 scored at 1.5, 2.5. 5 and 6
  • Cardstock:  1 X 5.5 (I cut mine narrower X 2 because its a fence)
  • Cardstock:  1 X 3.5 scored at 0.5 and 3

This card folded will fit into one of our medium sized envelopes (#107301)  I believe the original die cut card to be 5X7.

I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to use this style card for, but I do have a niece that recently got engaged and planned on sending them a card.  Then for some reason the idea of a Fox catching his chick was born.  I love the play on words and the Foxy Friends Photopolymer Bundle (#142326) is one of my favorites!  You can make so many cute animals using this punch!  I’m a bit late on the bandwagon, but just this week ordered the Owl Builder Punch (#118074).  It’s been around awhile and I’m not sure if it will be retired on June 1, I just had to snatch one up!

The Hey, Chick stamp set is a Sale-a-bration freebie.  Spend just $50 and you get it free.  Free is the only way you can get it, and there are so many adorable ideas found on Pinterest, I highly recommend you claim yours before this promotion ENDS on March 31, 2017!!!!!

I printed the wording about the Fox finally catching his chick on whisper white and used the Sprinkles of Life stamp Set (#139971) and the Tree Builder Punch (#138295) to make the clouds.

I love the cuteness factor of this card, and I hope the recipients do as well!engagement2engagement4

The best part is, it folds flat for mailing!  Yippie!

Can you stand just one more Tasty Truck slider card from me?  LOL Gosh I love this little truck!  Just a few more days to get this free with your $50 order.  April 1 it will be GONE!!!!!  I know you will really want this one once you see all the amazing projects made on Pinterest!  I bet this stamp set will be gold after April 1 on Ebay!  Get it FREE now!

So I really hadn’t intended on making a birthday card for my brother.  It’s in April and honestly he has been in and out of our lives for over 30 years.  But Facebook has really reconnected us.  Thank you Mark Zuckerberg!  I decided to make him a card after he posted this on my FB wall:

I guess he has appreciated the few cards I’ve sent over the years….so here it is.  His very own Tasty Taco Truck with a hidden surprise!

I hope you have enjoyed my bonus entry this week, and if you really want this stamp set, remember you can only get it free with your $50 purchase and after March 31 it is GONE!

Retirement is in the Air!

I’m still on a Balloon Adventures kick!  The bundle is available at a 10% discount until May 31, 2017.  (#144708)

My Daughter-in-Laws parents are both retiring in April, so I thought I’d get a few cards ready to help them celebrate.  This is a center Step Card, I like this type of fold when you want to display a card for awhile.  Birthday cards get put away pretty quickly when you get to be our age LOL  But it’s nice to walk by a happy reminder that you’re finally retired.  Not that anyone sent me a card mind you, I’ve been “medically” retired since 2009.

The sentiment “The Best is Yet to Come” screams retirement, don’t you agree?  Congrats is from the Sunshine Sayings stamp set (#141594), Celebrate is from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set (#141614) and the Happy Retirement is from (Teeny Tiny Wishes (#127802)

The DSP is contraband, but I did love the smiley faces and I do use what I have…until my Stampin Up Supplies become more varied and plentiful!  Rome wasn’t built in a day, but slowly my stash is growing YAY!  I REALLY am looking forward to getting my punch in so I don’t have to fussy cut the balloons!

I made another Tasty Trucks (SAB #143300) for the Mrs.  I just added the Retirement sentiment.  The beach theme would SEEM to be appropriate for retirement, if we didn’t already live near the beach.  They bought a 2nd home somewhere in the Mountains of NC…I hope she still likes her card though!

Until next time…Happy crafting!!!!!!

Card fit for a Queen!

Hello Peeps!  Happy March!  Are you like me?  Do you discover a card on a blog, a FB page or Pinterest and can’t get it out of your head until you try to make one yourself???  Well folks, that is exactly what happened to me when I came across this amazing Hexagon Base Pop Up Card

I woke up bright and early and following the template created this card for the Queen of the Red Hat Society Chapter I belong to.  Her birthday isn’t until September, lol,  BUT I just had to make this card!  I love how it came out 🙂

In addition to the Balloon Adventures Bundle (#144708) I added flowers from Flower Shop (#130942) and cut them using the matching pansy punch (#130698) as well as Petite Petals Stamps (#133155) and punch (#133322)  Of course it’s all in Red and Purple 🙂  I did cut 2 of the balloon sections to give it a bit more stability.

I love that it’s 2 sided so there is no real back and front and can “stand” on display for a long time!!!!  At least that’s what I do with amazing cards I receive heeheehee.

The picture on the left is an aerial view and the one on the right shows you how it will fold nicely to fit inside a 5×7 sized envelope.  It will need extra postage because the flowers make it a bit thicker than the post office allows for standard postage.

I really enjoyed making this card and will be making a few more, not Red and Purple and maybe using the BotanicalBuilder Framelits (#140625) and matching Botanical Blooms Stamp Set (#140757)  The possibilites are endless!  Happy Stamping!

Oh Crap!

I’m kinda feeling like 💩. Woke up with a headache that was making no indication of leaving. So what do I do? Head to my craft room and made a birthday card for my daughters boyfriend. It’s not until April, but once I get an idea in my head I can’t rest until I implement it!

The Card is actually an Image from Cricut that I welded into a card, but I did use the Hardwood Background Stamp (#133035) inked in Chocolate Chip (#126979) and stamped on Sahara Sand Card Stock (#121043).  The little sign hanging from the “door knob” was stamped using the Labeler Alphabet stamp set (#141936)
I love how it turned out!!!! The whole toilet thing is a running joke in our family, I hope he finds the humor in it!

Now to make lunch and then take a nap!

Happy St Paddy’s Day

St Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and although I’m only Irish by association, who doesn’t love a celebration that involves Green Beer, Lucky leprechauns and the phrase “Kiss me I’m Irish”?!  Our family has it’s own little tradition for this Day.  I make Grilled Reuben Sandwiches~because we do not care for the traditional corn beef and cabbage.  Sauerkraut is made using…CLOSE enough!  We also drink green beer and enjoy our Irish Coffee all while watching the classic John Wayne/Maureen O’Hara movie, The Quiet Man.  Haven’t seen it?  WHY NOT????  It’s pretty great!

Another tradition I have is sending cards.  I have 6 families that get a card for every holiday, sometimes my cards are labor intensive and sometimes they are much more simple.  This years St Patrick’s Day card is more simple than those I’ve made in the past it just looks like its a lot of work!

I pulled out my Jar of Love Stamp Set (#141587) and their co-coordinating framelits (#141490)  To create the Shamrock I used the heart from the Love Notes Framelits (#142752).  The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set (#127802) and the little border on the fussy cut banner was made using the straw from the Mixed Drinks set (141928)  Of course I used Emerald Envy ink (#141396) as well as Emerald Envy cardstock (#141415) because after all, isn’t Ireland referred to as the Emerald Isle?  I added a trimmed  Delicate White Doily (141701) and the Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (#138288) on Crumb Cake cardstock (#120953).

Do you see that Emerald Envy ribbon?  Yep, sponge daubed (#133773)  some Emerald Envy ink onto cheap white satin ribbon from Michaels 🙂  This card may seem to use a lot of parts, but when you make 6 they actually come together fast.  It took more time to get my Emerald Envy stained fingers clean LOL

I hope this card gives you a bit of inspiration and please, do enjoy a glass of green beer while you watch The Quiet Man!  Let me know how you like it!
