Let’s Celebrate You! (Amazing Curtain Fold Card)

Ahhhhh. The final blog post of the year! I have so much to be thankful for. I have an awesome husband (awesome because he gives me the freedom to be creative, yes he even makes dinner if it seems I’m lost in craft land! Lol)

I have great kids that are turning into AMAZING parents themselves. Of course their adorable children are my beautiful grandgirlies who I love with all my heart!

But it’s YOU I want to CELEBRATE in this final post for 2017! YOU guys have been AMAZING! Thank YOU for reading my entrees weekly, and sometimes daily (at least for the month of December!). Your kind words have kept me inspired to keep up with my blogging. As long as I have AMAZING readers, I will do my best to make cards or projects that can help inspire your own creativity!

Ok have YOU seen what I’ve done here? LOL I’ve subliminally given YOU a sneak peek into one of my favorite sale-a-bration rewards! I love metal cutting dies. Sure I have a Cricut. Actually i have 3. LOL I should have given the others away long ago, but I call them my back ups hahaha! But for just one little diecut a Big Shot is more convenient. Oh? Did I not mention Santa brought me a Big Shot? Woohoo! It’s right next to my cuttlebug.  Remember, I have an awesome husband that really does spoil me ❤️❤️❤️

Back to my rewards! As a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator one of the perks is being able to order early from the new Occasions catalog that goes live in January 3, 2018! That’s also the day Sale-a-bration starts! What’s new this year is that there are two tiers for earning freebies. $50 and $100 levels. The CELEBRATE You Thinlits can be earned by spending $100. Not that difficult to do hahaha!

To showcase the dies I made a few cards with the Curtain Fold Technique

I’ve sketched a diagram/template to make this particular orientation/size “curtain:

curtain fold pdf

For my DSP I used….wait for it…my own!  Why not, right?  I used the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set.

My color pallet was Berry Burst, Sweet Sugar Plum and Pear Pizzazz.  I loved the “concept” however once my curtain was “pleated” I wasn’t entirely happy with the placement of some of the flowers.  Also, the balloon burst stamp used Berry Burst and I thought it was a little dark to sit behind my Berry Burst CELEBRATE diecut, so I cut another using Whisper White.  It breaks it up just a bit.

But since I may be a bit OCD I thought I would give it another try!  I used the same stamp set, but this time I used the Sweet Sugarplum stamped off once for the splatter!  Much better!  I also changed it to add a little more Pizzazz…Pear Pizzazz that is!

I love this version! Notice my “flowers” are a bit more evenly spaced? That’s because I didn’t stamp until AFTER I cut and scored my card stock. I was better able to visualize how the flowers would show since I could see where they would overlap. Clever, right?

The flowers and color pallet are a bit feminine and YOU may be fortunate to have a male in your life YOU think is AMAZING and want to CELEBRATE like I do…YOU know, that awesome man I married! So I made yet another version using DIY DSP in a color pallet that is a bit more masculine

Same exact layout but an entirely different feel, don’t YOU agree? I actually only used two colors this time Tranquil Tide and Lemon Lime Twist. To create my “plaid” I used these two stamp sets:

Sometimes YOU have to think outside the box! But isn’t that what creativity is all about?

Well, that brings me to the end of my post.  The last for a year of wonderful memories!  I hope YOU all have a wonderful, yet safe New Year and CELEBRATE not only the year to come, but reflect in all this past year has brought YOUYOU are AMAZING!  See YOU in 2018!!!

Last Minute Gift/Money Holder

Yikes!  It was 6 days until Christmas and I remembered I needed to send a gift to my middle school age niece up north!  For years and years I’ve insisted that Santa has been sending her a gift from Florida.  Oh I knew she knew there was no Santa, but like my own kids, they play along. If they don’t, well, there just won’t be any gifts under our tree for the unbelievers!

I was going to just stick a check in a money holder card I bought years ago.  Then I remembered!  I’m a card maker, for Pete’s sake, I should make a card!  So off to Pinterest I went for inspiration.  I mostly found gift card holders.  Then I went to Google, and found the same.

Hmmmmm.  Maybe I should just “design” my own with my Cricut!  I married Stampin’ Up! proucts with a card I made from an image I owned.  I think it came out pretty cute for last minute!  Does a preteen appreciate the fact that it was handmade?  Probably not.  But I feel better for taking the effort!  So, it’s been sent, and hopefully received and opened by the time this blog entry posts!

Here is a peek at the inside:

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and like me was lucky to spend it with family!

Mini Twist Card with Tutorial

It’s Christmas Eve!  I’m excited the big day is here, but kinda melancholy that it’s just about over!  I love everything about Christmas.  The music, the shopping, the decorating and of course the “crafting”.  I’m glad I start thinking Christmas in September, at least I have the spirit for a third of the year 🙂

This post is set to go live on Christmas Eve morning, but in truth, it’s actually 24 hours before that.  I REALLY should be wrapping gifts, but I wanted to get this tutorial written and posted!  The bad part is, I made the card months ago, took pictures during the process.  Now that it’s time to write the tutorial, I just stared at the pics and said, how did I do this again?  LOL  Sucks getting old!

Well, I guess I just need to make another one, right?  I grabbed old DSP and started working on the mechanism.  Half way thru, I decided I could use this as a tag to give to my grandbaby’s Mommy and Daddy to go along with a gift card and babysitting.  Mamma Bear and Pappa Bear sometimes need a little break from baby bear!  I just gave you that story to explain why my DSP really doesn’t go with the rest of the card LOL.  My daughter isn’t the sentimental type that would actually keep the card as a memento.  Now if I were to make this for my Son, I would have started this sucker over.  Actually, twice LOL.

The card is the 3×3 sized version of the popular Twist and Pop Cards.  I have a pictorial Tutorial Tiny Twist Box Tutorial.

I dusted off my envelope punch board (literally!) and created an envelope that would fit both the card and the gift card.

That’s all I have for you today.  Have a fun filled Christmas Eve!  Merry Christmas!

More Candle Stamping, LOTS more!

Happy day before Christmas Eve! I’ve been a member of The Red Hat Society for a few years. I think maybe 7? Anyway, every Christmas i like to bring a handmade gift for each of my gal pals.

Every year i think it’s the last year, because i just run out of ideas. Then the Dollar Tree Candle Stamping craze hit! Immediately i knew i was going to use Painted Harvest in Reds and Purples.

I ordered a case of candles from Dollar Tree and then we were in the path of hurricane Irma. So, like a good stamper, i stamped out lots of flowers on tissue because once the power went out i needed something to keep me busy. Fussy cutting to the rescue!

I never know how many ladies will be attending so i make a few extra:

This year i made 27! Let’s just say, i got a lot of practice! For my Beachy Little Christmas candles I made little boxes and wrapped them in cello bags. I opted for just tissue paper and a cute tag. I had already put in a ton of work. But wrapped in red and purple tissue they still presented as lovely cheap gifts hahaha

I had 2 of these boxes! Yikes!

I think it was a successful gift, the ladies all wanted to know how i stamped on the candles. I suppose it would have been a great opportunity to mention i could do a class. I think I’m just not ready, space would be an obstacle. If anyone asks i will just tell them they can come play in my craft room anytime they want 🙂

That’s it for today, Santa asked me to help wrap a few gifts and when Santa asks, Liza helps! I want a present under the tree this year lol!

Scraps into Tags!

I was cleaning up my work surface and ended up with a pile of these:

So rather than toss them i turned them into Tags! I had a Red Hat Christmas Party to go to and had to bring a small $5 gift for the gift exchange game we play each year!

This tag was perfect for the gift, it suited my wrapping well! Please forgive the generic stitched heart cut out, i don’t have current Stampin’ Up! Hearts yet.

Here it is on the gift:

With just a little imagination you CAN create from trash!

And of course you don’t have to limit yourself to hearts, circles, ovals, squares and the tag topper punch all work well

Oh you wanted to see the gift? Well darn, i wrapped it before taking a picture :(. Luckily i have made these before, so picture this with a red bow! (Oh and of course there are lights!)

Let’s see what you come up with using up your scraps!

Mini Circle Easel Card/Tag BONUS!

Because I didn’t actually make 12 different tags, but did start including my mini cards as tags I’ve actually gone over 12!  But how could I not share this little cutie?!

I had already shared the full size version here.

I couldn’t wait to try it in miniature.  Oh, and of course there is a tutorial for you here: Mini Circle Easel Card Tutorial

And it fits inside either our Pizza Boxes or mini envelopes!

That’s all I have for you today!
