Let’s Welcome Fall!…and a blog hop!

Hello Friends!  Today I am participating in The Joy of Sets Blog Hop!  The criteria for this hop was to make either a card or scrapbook page using Current Products in the newly released Annual Stampin’ Up! Catalog.  I chose to make an autumnal card because I am trying to trick my brain into not thinking about our very hot summer here in SW Florida!

I started with a Whisper White Card Base and using the small leaf from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits Dies (#143751) I cut 4 from the right side of the base.  Waste not want not, I inked up each leaf by laying them directly onto the stamp pads.  Pumpkin Pie, Calypso, and Mango Melody.  There are 4 leaves and 3 colors listed, yes, I dipped 2 into the same color, just left one in longer than the other!

While the leaves were drying, I embossed the remaining white space.  What’s that you say?  Stampin’ Up! doesn’t have an embossing folder with that leaf design?  Ahhh, that’s what is so exciting about our new catalog.  Stampin’ Up! now offers Big Shot Embossing Mats (#146327).   The “sandwich” for this new type of embossing is: 1) Platform 2) Cutting Plate 3) die, cutting side up 4) Thin Rubber Mat and finally 5) The Impressions plate.  Because I was trying to mimic an actual folder, I used washi tape to place my leaf so it wouldn’t shift.  Word of Warning!  Make sure your card base is straight for EVERY pass or you will get a ragged edge.  Trust me, you don’t want to mess up your card on its final pass thru!   LOL ask me how I know!

The Happy Fall sentiment was created with the Labeler Alphabet Stamp Set (#141936) on the card front..  I then used Stampin Dimensionals to “pop up” my leaves  I wanted a little color contrast for behind the leaf openings when the recipient removed the card from the envelope.  I think I accomplished that, by using the Scallop Edgelit from the same die set and some co-ordinating DSP from Natures Poem (#146338).  LOL, after all it is Wednesday!

Liza this is beautiful – I love those falling leaves – Autumn (Fall) is my favourite time of year but it’s not happening here in the UK yet as we are full on with an actual hot summer!!! Thanks for being part of JOS and for joining in with the blog hop!

Love your creations, Liza! So glad to know this season is right around the corner though on this rainy day in the States you’d think it was fall. It’s a pleasure to be hopping with you today.
